Carl A. Aspelund

Born August 1, 1924 in Libbyville (Naknek) Alaska; passed away March 22, 2013 in Yakima WA. at age 88.

Carl proudly served his country in the US Army, Coast Guard, and the Merchant Marine. He was involved in many maritime associations & clubs in Seattle, and also volunteered at the Nordic Heritage Museum in Ballard. He retired in 1996 from Ward Cove Fisheries after over 50 years in the fishing industry.

Carl enjoyed life. Among his many interests were fishing, hunting and traveling. He will be dearly missed by many, and will be fondly remembered for his love & devotion to family and friends as well as his generous outgoing spirit. Carl was the eldest of 12 children born to Karl and Anna Aspelund. He is survived by sisters and brothers: Thelma Eckert, Earl Aspelund (Myrtle), Alvin Aspelund, Allan Aspelund (Mary Lou), Viola White, Irene Hendricks, Walter Aspelund (Marcia), Lorene Beaulieu (Dale); step-children: Floyd Hart (Diane), Richard Hart (Carolyn); many nieces and nephews, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Reba after 55 years of marriage in 2000 and second wife, Marie, after 11 years of marriage; by his parents, sisters, Agda Aspelund, Bertha Williams and a brother, William.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, April 25; 2:00PM at the Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Chapel 11111 Aurora Ave N. Seattle.
