Gladys Ruth King, age 87, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 27, 2013 after a lengthy illness. She was born January 12, 1926 in Willow Grove (Clay County), TN to Tommie and Ella (Edens) Abston. She grew up in Sentinel, OK and was a 1944 graduate of Port High School near Sentinel. She later lived in Woodward where she worked for the Sherriff's department, in banking and the oil and gas business before moving to Eufaula in 1968. While in Eufaula she worked at the US Naval Ammunition Depot in McAlester. In 1975 she moved to Mustang and continued her career at Tinker Air Force Base, retiring in 1993. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters Maggie, Stella and Robbie, three brothers Palmer "Red", Cledice "Dick" and Delton "Buck".

Her living family legacy includes one son Grady King and wife Karen of Mansfield, TX, and one daughter Tammy McDaniel and husband Brian of Mustang. Also by three grandchildren, one sister Bea Jones of Roseburg, OR and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Sooner Youth Camp in care of McNeil's Mustang Funeral Service.

Service will be held at 11am on Friday, November 1, 2013 in The Chapel of The Good Shepherd at McNeil's Mustang Funeral Service, Mustang, OK. Interment will follow at 3pm in the Sentinel Cemetery, Sentinel, Oklahoma.
