Funeral services for Henry C.
Abby, who passed away suddenly
at his home last Thursday, were
held from the First Christian
Church in Albion Saturday after-
noon, with Little Prairie minister
Cecil Cochran officiating.

Mr. Abby, who had been in poor
health but active until the very last,
lapsed into a coma shortly after
lunch and passed away before medical
aid could be summoned.

Mr. Abby was an active member
of Hermitage Lodge No. 356 AF
and AM, and was chairman of the
Edwards County Democratic Central
Committee at the time of his
passing. Among those attending
the large funeral were many polit-
ical figures including Congressman
George E. Shipley of Washington,
D. C.

To Henry Abby was given the
gift of a closeness of relationship,
a true affinity, for those who knew
him.

Born in Wayne county on Feb.
22, 1894, the son of Robert and
Elizabeth Chalcraft Abby, he be-
came a member of the Little Prairie
Christian church at an early
age and attended there until his
passing.

In 1913 he was united in marriage
to Amy Bowers and to this
union were born six children. A
son, Ivan, preceded him in death in
1935 at the age of 17.

Surviving are his wife. Amy; one
son, William of Albion; four daugh-
ters, Mrs. Frank Shepherd of Mt.
Carmel, Mrs. Ken Meyer of Vin- !
cennes, Ind., Mrs. Lloyd Newport
of Ellery and Mrs. Dean Hallam of
.Albion; one sister, Mrs. Mary Mc-
Gregor of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren
and one great grandchild.

Concluding services were at Little Prairie Cemetery.
