Aleen A. Weaver, 98, of Atlantic, passed away Friday, December 16, 2016, at Cass County Memorial Hospital.

Aleen Alvina Weaver was born on July 20, 1918, in Hancock, Iowa, to Emanuel E. and Wilhelmina (Stender) Christensen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended rural schools and graduated from Greenfield High School in 1937. Aleen was united in marriage to Lester L. Weaver on November 5, 1938, in Maryville, Missouri, and they made their home in Grant, Iowa. On Pearl Harbor Day, December 7, 1941, they moved to Atlantic, residing there ever since, and raising their family of seven children.

She was an accomplished seamstress and also loved decorating, crocheting, and baking. Her rye bread, potato salad, and apple pie were often requested by family members and friends.

Aleen cherished the friendships she made over the years. During the War, she was employed at the Atlantic Corn Canning Factory. After her family was raised, she was employed for many years at Anthony's Department Store and also at Midwest Wholesale.

She was extremely proud of being a first generation Danish American, and volunteered many hours at the Danish Museum in Elk Horn. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She also served as a Sunday School teacher, Luther League advisor, PTA president and was a member of Atlantic Business and Professional Women.

Aleen enjoyed spending winter months with Lester at their home in Lake Placid, Florida. Other travels included vacations throughout the United States with family members. The highlight of her travels was a trip to Denmark, where she was able to visit with Danish relatives and visit the city where her father grew up.

Survivors include her children and their spouses: Larry (Sherry) Weaver of Waukee, Julia (David) Nester of Spicer, MN, Richard (Linda) Weaver of Atlantic, Leonard (Jane) Weaver of Portland, OR, Jayne (John) Massimilian of Burr Ridge, IL, Jamie (Mark) Harris of Overland Park, KS and daughter-in-law, Valdeen (Jack) Osborn of Walnut.

Also surviving are her grandchildren: Greg (Juli) Weaver, Teri (Kirk) Reynolds, Cale (Megan) Weaver, Arron Weaver, David (Stephanie) Nester, Holly Nester (fiance, Mark Simon), Christa (John) Sherman, Rachel Nester, Stephanie (Shawn) Millikan, Amy Aleen (Travis) Grasser, Kate Weaver, Beth Weaver, and Jamie Massimilian; her great-grandchildren: Drew (Holland), Katie (Jeramie), Caroline, Julia Aleen, Emerson, Seth, Leah Aleen, Paige, and Trevor, and her great-great-grandchildren: Max, Dylan, Madison, and Audrey.

She is also survived by her sister, Clarine Lundy, and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; son, Ronald; infant daughter, MaryBeth and her grandson, Christopher. Also preceding her were her brothers and sisters: Fred, Edwin, Everett, Harold, Arnold, Ivan, Lucille, Erma, Pauline, and Alnora.
