Clarine's Obituary

Funeral services for Clarine May Lundy, 90, of Greenfield, IA will be held 11 a.m., Friday, October 30, 2020 at the Cornerstone Fellowship Church, 2158 Highway 92, Greenfield, with burial following in the Greenfield Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church prior to services. The service will be Livestreamed beginning at 11 a.m. on Clarine’s obituary page of the funeral home website.

Clarine was born as the 13th child of Emmanuel and Wilhelmina Christensen. She grew up in Southwest Iowa living in various communities throughout the area. She spent her younger days riding horses and playing happily with the younger half of her twelve brothers and sisters. She attended high school in Orient, Iowa

On New Year’s Eve of 1949, she married Wesley Daniel Lundy. Together they raised five children, Connie, Steve, Cindy, Chris and Danny. They farmed and raised livestock together for many years. They were two of the founders of Iowa Associated Saddle Clubs. The whole family enjoyed riding and showing horses during the children’s years at home.

Clarine was a dedicated mother and was always involved in her children’s activities. Out of the desire to give her kids’ opportunities to do the things they wanted to do; dance became a large part of everyone’s lives. The boys didn’t care about it, but the girls loved to dance. She helped open several studios where her daughters taught dance.

With the untimely death of her husband Dan in December of 1986, life changed drastically. These were hard times, but as always, Clarine persevered. During this time, she began working in Des Moines at Principal Towers and Greyhound. Later, she worked with her daughter Connie at the University of Nebraska Lincoln football games at central concessions. She loved being at the games and working with Connie and her grandsons. She also worked at the Devaney Center on campus and had a special birthday when Garth Brooks gave her a hand-signed birthday card the night of his concert at that arena.

Clarine spent her later years enjoying time with many of her 17 grandchildren. She was a very influential and an integral part of their lives. She loved seeing them grow up and have families of their own. She has 27 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dan, 12 brothers and sisters and one grandchild, Kathy Minto. She is survived by her five children and their families: Daughter Connie and husband, David Minto, their son Cooper, wife Megan Minto and their children Wyatt and Ellis, son David, wife Tracey Minto and their, children Kyra and Tommy, son Micah Minto and his son Zach.
