She was a native of Lebanon and a daughter of the late Hugh L. and Edna Raley Abell. She graduated from St. Augustine High School and was a retired registered nurse and a member of the Kentucky Nurses Association and Queens Daughters.
She is survived by three brothers, Eugene Abell of Glasgow, Hugh Abell of Columbia, and Harold Abell of Lebanon; three sisters, Mrs. L. C. Rawlings, Mrs. Bernard Ryan, both of Lebanon and Mrs. Morris Tucker of Campbellsville, also survived by a long time friend with whom she lived, Miss Helen Baldey, and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery in Louisville. Fr. Louis Miller, Fr. Jim Thompson and Fr. Thomas E. Buren officiated.
Active pallbearers were W. H. Hedgespeth, Kenneth L. Sublett, Charles Gerstle, Charles Romans, Louis J. Herrmann, M. J. Duffy, Jr., E. J. Porter and S. Oden Howell.
Honorary pallbearers were nephews James H. Abell of Lebanon, Gene, Hugh and Joe Abell, Fred and Charles David Ryan of Lexington, James Hugh Ryan of Belleville, Illinois, Edwin P. Abell of Campbellsville and William A. Rawlings of Philadelphia, Pa.
