SUSAN ABELL RYAN, 96, Lebanon, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville. Born Oct. 1, 1911, near Popes Creek in Marion County, Ryan was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Charles Bernard Ryan, who died in 1984. (They were married for 51 years.); parents, Hugh L. and Edna Marie Raley Abell; a daughter, Elizabeth Ryan Shinn; three brothers, Eugene, Hugh and Harold Abell; and two sisters, Genevieve Rawlings and Mary George Abell. Survivors include: four sons, Charles Ryan (Rita) of Lexington, Jim Ryan (Joyce) of Belleville, Ill., Fred Ryan (Freda) of Lebanon and Mike Ryan (Marcia) of Nashville, Tenn.; three daughters, Mary Helen Iven (Clem) of Santa Fe, Texas, Sue Ann Warms (Dave) of Louisville and Martha Harrington of Lexington; one sister, Mrs. Martha Tucker (Morris) of Campbellsville; six granddaughters; 14 grandsons; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandson. A funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Lebanon, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Jerry Bell officiated. Pallbearers were Kirby Warms, Luke Harrington, Bernie Iven and Stephen, David and Patrick Ryan. Bosley Funeral Home, Lebanon, was in charge of arrangements.
