Helen Lucille King Abbott, 68, died Thursday, June 18, 2009. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Hobgood Cemetery in Hobgood. The Reverend Matthew Jones and the Reverend Billy Poteat will be presiding. Helen is survived by her son, Tommy King and wife Lela of Tillery; sisters, Ellen Whitfield of Chesapeake, VA, Phoebe Bagan of Hobgood, Doris Leonard and husband Robert of Rocky Mount, and Barbara Smith and husband Randy of Scotland Neck; brothers, Virgil "Bud" King and Ed King and wife Bet all of Hobgood, Alvin King and wife Lou of Chesapeake, VA, and Jerry King and wife Joyce of Greenville; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck. Special thanks to the caregivers and guardian angels, Bet King and Debbie Smith.
