William "Bill" Abugel Obituary

Mr. William "Bill" Abugel, age 96, of Dothan passed away Monday, March 10, 2014, at his residence.

Born February 22, 1918 in Queens, New York to the late Alexander and Michalena Somakar Abugel, Mr. Abugel served his country in the United States Army serving in World War II earning two Purple Hearts. He was of the Baptist faith and loved fishing, working on old cars, baseball, and his family but most of all he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, two sisters, Sophie Stosuy, Mae Golubinski, and one brother, Nick Abugel.

Survivors include his wife Juanita Abugel, sons, Jeffrey Abugel and his wife Beverly, Bruce Abugel and his wife Linda, brothers, Fred Abugel, George Abugel, grandchildren, Stacy Abugel, Brian Abugel (Krista), great-grandchildren, Christopher and Jonathan; his brother-in-law Morris (Gloria) Stringer and family; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Raymond Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Stringer, Chris Stringer, Nick Stringer, Andrew Stringer, Jason Kolish, and Tim Bugg.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday, March 13, 2014.

The family will be accepting flowers.
