Portsmouth - Guy Hofler Alphin,83, of the 200 block of Rockbridge Rd., passed away Friday, July 25, 2014. He was a native of Gates County, NC and was the husband of the late Dorothea S. Alphin. He was a retired planner for TRT Bus Company
Survivors include one son, Jake Alphin, Jr. of Piedmont, SC; four daughters, Phyllis Whorley of Raleigh, NC, Brogan Lane of L. A., CA, Dawn Nicolai of Chesapeake and Tina Kelley of Portsmouth; one sister, Joyce Rhodes of Ocala, FL; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be 2 P.M. Wednesday, July 30, in Hofler Cemetery, Gates County, NC by Pastor Gene Asbill. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel Tuesday from 6-7:30 P.M. Guy had a curiosity about life and a thirst for knowledge and a love for a great meal and conversation until the Lord took him Home. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association .
