COLUMBIA - Memorial service for Ann Dyches Grubbs, 55, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday morning, March 29, 2001, at North Trenholm Baptist Church. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Wednesday Group of Trenholm Art Guild and the members of the M.J. Brady Sunday Sunday School Class. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. this (Wednesday) evening at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Organ Donor Associations, North Trenholm Baptist Church, 6515 N. Trenholm Road or the Trenholm Art Guild, Columbia, SC.
Mrs. Grubbs, originally from Denmark, S.C., resided in Columbia. She graduated from the University of South Carolina, Magna Cum Laude in 1983 with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Art Studio. She won numerous awards and her work appeared in many exhibitions and shows. Mrs. Grubbs was a member of the South Carolina Water Color Society and the Trenholm Artists Guild. She was a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church and the M.J. Brady Sunday School Class.
Surviving are her husband, James D. Grubbs; son, Daniel Grubbs of Columbia; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Ann Grubbs Miller and her husband, Christopher H. of Lerona, W.Va.; grandson, Jonathan Miller; stepfather and mother, Dave and Nina Abstance of Denmark, S.C.; sister, Adelia A. Owens of Lugoff; brother and sister-in-law, David and Sandra Abstance of Chapin; brother and sister-in-law, Wyman and Jan Abstance of Denmark; nephews, Jamie Owens, David and Mitzi Abstance, Joey Abstance; nieces, Julie and Mark Jeffers, Niki and Ricky Cook and Laurie Abstance; great-nephews, Nash Jeffers, Tucker Jeffers, Austin Cook and Coby Cook; great-niece, Alexandria Owens.
