Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be David L. Abstance III, Joseph B. Abstance, James B. Owens Jr., J. Daniel Grubbs, Richard E. Cook, Mark S. Jeffers. Mrs. Abstance died November 5, 2001, in Bamberg County Hospital. Born in Augusta, she was the daughter of the late Joe Wyan Darnell and Annie Bell Darnell. She was retired from Ness' Dept. Store and was a member of Ghents Branch Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, David L. Abstance Sr. of Denmark; daughter, Adelia Owens of Lugoff; sons and daughters-in-law, David Jr. and Sandra Abstance of Chapin, Wyman and Jan Abstance of Denmark; son-in-law, James D. Grubbs of Columbia; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Ann Grubbs.
