DENMARK - Services for Nina B. Abstance, 76, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2001, at Ghents Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Morehead and Rev. Andy Hunter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be David L. Abstance III, Joseph B. Abstance, James B. Owens Jr., J. Daniel Grubbs, Richard E. Cook, Mark S. Jeffers. The family will receive friends from 7-9 this evening, November 7, 2001, at Mercer Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Ghents Branch Baptist Church, 886 Ghents Branch Rd., Denmark, SC 29042.
Mrs. Abstance died November 5, 2001, in Bamberg County Hospital. Born in Augusta, she was the daughter of the late Joe Wyan Darnell and Annie Bell Darnell. She was retired from Ness' Dept. Store and was a member of Ghents Branch Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, David L. Abstance Sr. of Denmark; daughter, Adelia Owens of Lugoff; sons and daughters-in-law, David Jr. and Sandra Abstance of Chapin, Wyman and Jan Abstance of Denmark; son-in-law, James D. Grubbs of Columbia; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Ann Grubbs.
