Walter R. Adams
Walter R. Adams, 93, of Homedale, died Saturday, July 16, 1994, at his home.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, at the Marsing-Homedale Cemetery, with John Burke officiating. Military Honors will be held by the American Legion of Homedale. Services are under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Homedale.
Walter was born March 5, 1901, at Silver City, a son of Gerard B. And Eva Mae Julian Adams. Walt served in the United States Army in France during World War I. He married Mildretta Hamilton Jan. 26, 1926, in Caldwell. Walt owned and operated the first school bus in Homedale. He drove bus for District J-80 for 27 years, and was bus overseer for a number of years.
Walt and Mildretta started the Old School Museum in Silver City in 1961. They operated the museum until they were forced to retire, due to ill health. It is still be operated by family members.
Walt was a charter member of the Odd Fellows, Homedale. He served on the Homedale City Council, the Owyhee County Rodeo Board, and the Homedale Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a charter member of the Owyhee County Historical Society.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Alene Downing of Homedale, Pat and Don Davis of Bruneau, and Marilyn and Jack Burke of Meridian; one sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Sam Henson of Louisiana; nine grandchildren, Tim Downing, Dani Aman, Toni Ross, Judy McBride, Ken Davis, Janie Burke, Holly Romans, Mary Burke, and John Burke; 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, three sisters, and a grandson, Bill Davis.
