Bill Aaker, age 97, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Jenkins Living Center in Watertown. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014 at New Helgen Lutheran Church in Florence with Reverend Gary Anderson officiating. Music will be furnished by Joel Chilson as soloist and Dorothy Anderson as organist.Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Wight, Comes & Sogn Funeral Chapel in Watertown. There will be no reviewal.
Private interment will be at Goodhue Cemetery, rural Florence, SD.Honorary urn bearers will be the card group.Memorials may be directed to Jenkins Living Center or Goodhue Lutheran Church at Florence.William Lyden Frost Aaker, the son of Richard and Hilda (Frost) Aaker, was born on September 6, 1917 at Florence, SD. He grew up and attended school in the Florence area. He was baptized and confirmed at the Goodhue Lutheran Church and was a life long member there.Bill married Marcine Van Sickle on October 8, 1954 at the Methodist Church in Watertown. They lived on the family farm near Florence until moving to Watertown in 1991.Bill is survived by his wife, Marcine of Watertown; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Phyllis, Tucson, AZ, and Kevin Aaker, Sacred Heart, MN; three daughters and a son-in-law, Barb and Rick Hess, Sioux Falls, SD, Sharon Aaker, Las Vegas, NV, and Renae Aaker Walters, Sioux Falls, SD; one sister, Edith Johnson, of Watertown, SD; a sister-in-law, Ann Aaker of Elkton, SD; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; four bothers; and two sisters.
