Mrs. Ethelyn V. Abernathy, 75, mother of Miss Otha E. McCracken, teacher in Central High School, died this morning at 9:25 o'cock at Kellogg hall, where she had been living with her daughter for nearly three years. Mrs. Abernathy was born June 23, 1961 t Bowmanville, Ont., the daughter of Jerrad and Mary (Van Camp) Tyler. At the age of 12 she moved to Michigan with her family and settled in the Old Mission Peninsula in the Grand Traverse bay district. For many years Mrs. Abernathy lived at Alden where she was a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving besides the daughter is her husband John R. Abernathy, who has been living in Newaygo during Mrs. Abernathy's illness; and a cousin, Mrs. Leona Blinkhorn, who hs been caring for her. A prayer service will be held at the Farley Funeral home Friday at 4:30 p.m. in charge of the Rev. Carleton Brooks Miller. Saturday the body will be taken to Alden for funeral services at the Community Church at 3 p.m.and burial will be in the Alden Cemetery.
