Dr. Alexander Abashian, PhD, formerly of Blacksburg, passed away February 12, 2014 in Baltimore, Md. He was a beloved father of Rebecca Cornell (Allen), Philip Abashian (Lesley), Kim Sanders (Blair), and the late Lisa Abashian; loving grandfather of Christopher, Caroline, Casey, Riley, Matthew, and Grace; great-grandfather of Farmer; brother of Rose Blackburn, Violet Breckenridge, and his brothers and sisters who proceeded him in death, Sarah Markarian, Laura Soghoian, Steve Abashian, and Peter Abashian. Alexander was a professor at several institutions including Virginia Tech where he also served as head for the Physics department. Funeral service and interment was held Tuesday, February 18, 2014, in Glenwood, Md.

ALEXANDER ABASHIAN, PhD, beloved father of Rebecca Cornell (Allen), Philip Abashian (Lesley), Kim Sanders (Blair) and the late Lisa Abashian; loving grandfather of Christopher, Caroline, Casey, Riley, Matthew, and Grace; devoted great grandfather of Farmer; dear brother of Rose Blackburn, Violet Breckenridge and his brothers and sisters who proceeded him in death, Sarah Markarian, Laura Soghoian, Steve Abashian, and Peter Abashian. After receiving his PhD in Physics from Johns Hopkins University, he went on to become internationally recognized and respected for his work in the field of particle physics. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 10:30am at Crossroads Church of the Nazarene, 2750 Rogers Ave, Ellicott City, MD 21043. A private Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
