Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at Steele United Methodist Church, Steele, ND, with Rev. Steve Behrens officiating.
Visitation will be held from 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm Monday, January 5, at the Eastgate-Steele Memorial Chapel in Steele, ND.
She was born July 22, 1922, the youngest of ten children to Wesley F. and Lillie M. Nicholson. Lois grew up on a farm 11 miles south of Dawson and graduated valedictorian from Dawson High School in 1940.
She attended Jamestown College for one year and then began her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse west of Steele. Lois finished her college degree going to summer school at Valley City State College.
She taught school for 43 years in Kidder County. The last 34 years were spent at Steele, retiring as elementary principal in 1985.
Her hobbies included sewing, knitting and quilting. She was active in local PTA, Steele United Methodist, Dawson Homemaker, s and several senior citizen groups, often serving as an officer.
Lois is survived by her son, Robert (Janelle Sanda) Arusell, Fargo, ND; and 19 nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elden; nine siblings; and her parents.
