Louis A. Abeyta, 91, a long-time resident of Tucumcari, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015, in Clovis, NM. Mr. Abeyta was born May 7, 1923, in Las Vegas, NV to Joseph and Amalia Abeyta.Mr. Abeyta was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, St. Josephs Society, V.F.W. Post #2528, and the Tucumcari Volunteer Fire Department. He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946. He is survived by his son, Louis Abeyta, Jr. and a daughter, Carla Bittinger, both of Tucumcari; two brothers, J.A. Abeyta of Carlsbad and Norman Abeyta of Tucumcari; a sister, Christine Turnbeaugh of Tucson, AZ; three grandchildren , Robert Benavidez, Jessica Hall and Joseph Abeyta, all of Tucumcari and three great grandchildren, Falyn Benavidez, Mia Benavidez & Ashley Hall, all of Tucumcari. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine and a daughter, Bella Benavidez. Viewing will be at Dunn Funeral Home on Thursday, April 30, 2015, from 10 A.M. to 7 P.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 10 A.M. at St. Anne's Catholic Church with Father Hyginus Anuta officiating. Interment will be at Tucumcari Memorial Park.Arrangements entrusted to Dunn Funeral Home in Tucumcari.
