Aurora was born May 30, 1925, in Tucumcari, New Mexico. She worked for the State of New Mexico for almost 50 years in public service for which she received many awards. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society (Las Carmelitas).
Although she was never married nor had children, she was a maternal spirit and treated us all as her kids.
'Rora loved to joke and tease. She was fond of the gastronomic arts and enjoyed the occasional glass of wine. She made great fudge and decent bourbon balls. 'Rora introduced many of us to fine dining and fine snacking. She touched many people in her life and we are moved by her passing.
Although she was confined to bed in her last years, she maintained her courage and her dignity. On behalf of Aurora, we would like to thank the kind staff of Casa Real Care Center and the nice people from Odyssey Hospice.
Aurora is survived by her sisters, Anita Roche of Albuquerque, Lorinda Kemp of Albuquerque, and Christine Turnbeaugh of Tucson; brothers, J.A. "Red" of Carlsbad, Norman R. of Tucumcari, and Steve F. of Tucson, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends, too numerous to mention.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Order of Carmelites of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
A Rosary will be recited Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 7:00 p.m. at Berardinelli Family Chapel. A Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, May 27, 2009, 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Cathedral. Another Rosary will be recited Friday, May 29, 2009, 7:00 p.m. at Dunn's Funeral home in Tucumcari. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2009, 10:00 a.m. at the Tucumcari Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Berardinelli Family Funeral Service 1399 Luisa Street Santa Fe, NM 87505 (505) 984-8600.
