Jarvis Ray Albertson, 99, of South Mills, NC passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at W.R. Winslow Memorial Home just four days shy of his one hundredth birthday. Born in Camden County, NC, August 17, 1913, he was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Parker Albertson and was the husband of the late Hazel Sawyer Albertson. Mr. Albertson was a Christian and a Baptist. He was the oldest farmer in South Mills and the founder of Albertson Farms, Inc. He started his work behind a horse and plow and retired on a tractor.

Mr. Albertson is survived by a daughter, Virginia Keaton; a son, Melvin R. Albertson and wife Carrie Love, all of South Mills, NC; four grandchildren, Ray and wife Terry, Randy and wife Alethia, Don Lee and wife Pam and Jeneane and husband Wayne; five great-grandchildren, Michele and husband Matt, Tyler, Jordan, Anna and Maci; a great-great-granddaughter, Riley; a sister, Marguerite; and a brother, Overton. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by seven sisters, Pearl, Ruby, Lucy, Bertie, Irene, Ruth and Bessie; two brothers, Bill Ed and Parker; and a son-in-law, Randolph.
