As a lifelong Alaska resident, he enjoyed building wonderful life for his family with his own two hands. He was a man with many talents and he enjoyed hunting and commercial fishing and cooking for his family. Jens took pride in the home he built for his family and the boat he named after his beloved wife. Besides commercial fishing in Bristol Bay every summer, Jens has worked as a power plant operator and as an agent for Pen Air. He also built and managed a lodge which became a successful family operated business.
Jens was very proud of his daughters and the beautiful young ladies they grew up to be. He was also so very fond of his son and loved teaching him how to hunt and fish. Being a grandpa brought so much joy into Jens's life: he loved every minute he spent with them. Family and friends were Jens's top priority. He loved being surrounded by loved ones.
Jens is survived by his children, Tianna and husband, Warren O'domin, Chelsea and fiance, Bill Lind and Jacob; grandchildren, Peyton, Cash and Gage; sisters, Helene and husband, Orville Lind and Kirsty; brother, Kris; and countless nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lynn Carlson; his parents, Johnnie and Carol Carlson; brother, John Jr. Carlson.
A memorial service will be at Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E Street in Anchorage, on Sunday, May 24, 2015, at 1 p.m. with Father John Zabinko officiating. Jens will be laid to rest by his wife, Lynn, in Port Heiden, Alaska.
