Rites Scheduled for Mrs. Abbett
TROY, Kan. (Special) – Mrs. Bertha J. Abbett, 75, died Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leona Kennedy of near Troy. She was the widow of Joseph Abbett.
Mrs. Abbett was born at Rulo, Neb., and moved to Troy about 55 years ago. She was a member of the Baptist Church here.
In addition to the daughter, survivors include three sons, Virgil Abbett, St. Joseph and Samuel Abbett and Joseph Abbett both of Troy; two other daughters, Mrs. Stella Bear, Wathena, Kan., and Mrs. Mary Guthrie, St. Joseph; two sisters, Mrs. Lulu Engle, St. Joseph and Mrs. Lillie Smith, Rocky Ford, Colo.; four brothers, William Sutton, Kansas City, Mo., Edgar Sutton, Falls City, Neb., and Jess Sutton and Andrew Sutton, both of St. Joseph; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Tibbetts chapel here, with the Rev. Ted Eppinger officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery.
