Roy Absher, 72, of Old White Hill Road passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015 in Augusta Heath in Fishersville.

Mr. Absher was born on September 24, 1943 in Norton, Virginia to the late Barney and Hazel (Orsborne) Absher.

Mr. Absher attended Cornerstone Church and was retired from Merck, where he was employed as a pipe fitter. Roy was an outgoing man, who never met a stranger that he couldn’t befriend. He also enjoyed traveling to Tennessee to see his family. One of the greatest memories he had was that he helped build the Silver Dome in Detroit. He was a proud father who loved his children and was always there when they needed him.

Surviving are three children, Glenda Desper and her husband Greg, Marlene Pultz and Gregory Absher; brothers and sisters, Ronnie Absher and his wife Denise, Bill Absher and his wife Margaret, Steve Absher and his wife Janice, Barney Absher, Jr. and his wife Nancy, Carl Absher, Alfred Absher and his wife Sue, Jeff Absher and his wife Jo, Mable Absher, Joy Fields and Kathy Absher; seven grandchildren, Jamie Desper, Heather Desper, R.P. Pultz, Brandie Pultz, Amanda Absher, Jessica Absher, and Electra Absher; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the church sanctuary.

A Celebration of life will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2015 in the White Hill Church of the Brethren by Pastor Doug Brooks.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Derek Allen, David Absher, Stewart Hamilton, Mel Morris, Bill Miller, Roy Pultz, Chad Miller and Randy Morris.
A gathering of family and friends will be held following the interment
at the home of Mr. Absher’ daughter, Glenda Desper, 48 Ledyard Court, Stuarts Draft.
