James P. Daly, 66, a lifetime Valparaiso resident, died Saturday at Porter Memorial Hospital.
Born in Valparaiso July 25, 1918, he was the son of C. P. and Margaret (Fox) Daly. He was a former employee of Standard Oil, Whiting, and a member of St. Paul Church, the American Legion, the Beteran of Foreign Wars and a life member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks 500.
A US Army veteran of World War II, he retired in 1983 as a rural carrier for the US Postal Service.
He was a graduate of Valparaiso High School, attended Valparaiso University and was a board member of the Parents and Friends of the Fort Wayne State Hospital.
On June 22, 1963, he married Frances Rygas, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Margaret; three sons, Gary, Jeffery and David of Illinois; two grandhcilren and two brothers, Maurice and John of Valparaiso.
Services 10:30 am Wednesday at Dykes Funeral Home, 11 a. at St. Paul Church; Monsignor John J. Charlebois officiating; burial in St. Paul Cemetery.
