John F. Daly, 80, of Valparaiso, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2003 at home with his family. Born in Valparaiso, October 15, 1923, son of the late Cornelius P. and Margaret Lucille (Fox) Daly. On August 23, 1952 he married Beverly Putnam who survives him. He is also survived by five sons: Thomas (Noel Hinojosa) Daly of Oakland, CA, Michael (Pam) Daly, James (Deborah) Daly, Daniel and Timothy Daly, all of Valparaiso; three daughters Patricia (Birdsall) Carle of Bull Head City, AZ, Rita Davis of Brownburg, IN and Kathi (Jeff) Klaybor of South Bend, IN; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also preceded in death by his ssiter Mary Abadie and three brothers, Thomas, Maurice and James Daly. John always enjoyed his family and friends. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 738, St. Paul's Men's Club, Life member of American Legion Post 94, Life member of VFW Post 988, Loyal Order of the Moose 1357, Eagle Lodge 2517, USS Samuel Chase Association and Coast Guard Combat Veterans Association. He served in the US Coast Guard during WWII; and retired from the United States Postal Service in 1986. Funeral Tuesday, December 23, 2003 from Dykes Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. for 11 a.m. Mass at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1855 W. Harrison Blvd, Valparaiso, IN with Rev. Robert Naglich officiating. Burial, St. Paul Cemetery,Valparaiso. Visitation Monday from 3 to 8 p.m., with a Wake Service at 4 p.m., at Dykes Funeral Home, 2305 North Campbell St., Valparaiso, IN. 219-462-3125 Published in The Times from 12/20/2003 - 12/22/2003.
