In respect to those who gave their lives for out country, I have made a cursory search regarding this young marine. My research includes online military and ancestry.com, and local newspaper archives.
PVT Lloyd Benjamin Abbott
b. 1926, Stokes county, North Carolina
d. 7 July 1943, Solomon Islands, New Georgia

The remains of Private Abbott were removed from his original resting place in the South Pacific and returned to the United States on January 14, 1949. Following is his obituary from the Greensboro Daily News, dated February 6, 1949.
HIGH POINT - Funeral for Pvt. Lloyd B. Abbott, 17, who was killed in action on New Georgia Island, July 7, 1943, will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. at Abbotts Creek Primitive Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Private Abbott, a son of Colonel E. and the Late Nora Mabe Abbott, was educted at Oakview School, and entered the marines in December, 1942. He was a member of the famed Marine Marauders.
Surviving are: The father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Colonel E. Abbott; two brothers, Noel J. Abbott and Gene Abbott, both of High Point; and two sisters, Mrs. Lois Rice of Camp White, Ore., and Miss Margaret Ann Abbott of High Point.
