Walter Abramowski, 83, of Cloquet, died Thursday, May 20, 2004 at his home. He was born July 21, 1920 in Cloquet to Joseph and Josephine Abramowski. Walter served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and was united in marriage to Bernadine DeFoe on May 28, 1955 at Holy Family Catholic Church. He worked for Brenny-Dahl Block in Cloquet for 35 years and was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 346. Walter worked in the woods all his life and was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. Walter was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Bernadine; four brothers, Donald, John, Carl and Raymond; and three sisters, Stella, Ann, and Mary. He is survived by three sons, Brian Abramowski (Carol), Alan (Linda) Abramowski, and Craig Abramowski (Shirley), all of Cloquet; two daughters, Carol (Mark) Jurek, and Dawn Abramowski (Dave Pickus) both of Cloquet; three sisters, Sophia Weronka of Milwaukee, Katherine 'Katie' Neubert of Cloquet and Helen (Stanley) Kiminski of Milwaukee; a special friend, Eileen of Cloquet; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. VISITATION:5-8 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2004 at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet with a time of sharing at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday, May 24, 2004 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service also at Nelson Funeral Care. Interment will follow at New Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors presented by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. Luncheon will follow the E.N.P. Center at Fond du Lac Reservation. Arrangements are with Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet.
