El Paso- Maureen Abbott, 90 of El Paso formerly of Kappa passed away at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at her residence.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 31, 2006 St. Mary's Catholic Church, El Paso. Father Roger Corpus O.S.B. will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 on Sunday at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, El Paso. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or charity of the donor's choice.

Maureen was born September 16, 1915 at Kappa a daughter of Roy and Josephine Corbley Dunseth. She married Bruce D. Abbott on October 7, 1936 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Bloomington. He died in 1980.

Survivors include her daughter Nancy, El Paso; a son Rohn, Fairbanks,Alaska; a foster daughter Doris, Streator; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Maureen and Bruce were partners with Roy and Josephine Dunseth in th Ro-Jo in Kappa from 1938- 1956. Maureen owned and operated Maureen's Beauty Salon in Kappa from 1956 - 1976. In 1977 Maureen and her friend Arlene Keefe opened the first consignment shop in Bloomington. The sold the Ding-A-Ling Shoppe in 1982.

Maureen was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, El Paso. She was a member of the McLean County Cosmetology Association and served as President from 1957 - 1958. She started the Kappa Home Extension which was known as the fun unit in Woodford County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a foster daughter Mary Emo Hansen.
