Suggested edit: Gertrude Parke Adair, widow of George Thomas Adair, passed away at the Life Care Center, Sierra Vista, Ariz. on October 15, 1999. Turdie, as she was known to all her friends and family was born on December 28, 1914, in Alexandria, Va. to Phillip and Sadie (Lyle) Parke. Following the premature deaths of both parents, she was adopted by the person she always considered her mother, Pamelia Tiffany Mullins of Middlesburg, Va. After moving to Washington, D.C. Trudy trained trained as a laboratory technician. In 1938 she married her beloved Tom. Their marriage lasted for 55 years until his death in 1995. Trudie spent most of her life as an Army wife, living in Germany and Alaska in addition to many different parts of the United States. She was a warm and gracious hostess, and loved nothing better than helping other people, especially if she could cook for them. Trudie is survived by a daughter and her husband, Pamelia and Michael Steiger, Sierra Vista, Ariz.; four grandchildren and their spouses, Tiffany and Kyle Holt, of Missouri, Kelley and Ken Knox of Maryland, Thomas and Jessie Steiger, of Virginia, Peter and Jennifer Steiger, Sierra Vista, Ariz., as well as five great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Cameron Holt, Taylor Kenney and A.J. and Daniel Knox. Trudie will be greatly missed by all of those who knew her. Her graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 23, 1999 in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Rich Creek at 2 p.m. with Rev. Joe McCoy officiating. Anyone wishing to remember her are encouraged to make a contribution in her memory toward research aimed at finding a cure for Alzheimer's Disease. Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows is handling all local arrangements.
