Paul Pershing Aaron, 87, of Palatka, died Sunday, April 15, 2007, at Putnam Community Medical Center following an extended illness.
A native of Screven, Ga., he was raised in Crescent City and resided in Jacksonville before moving to California where he lived for 40 years. He then returned to Jacksonville for another eight years before moving to Palatka, where he resided the past four years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and retired from the Gillett Corp. in California. While residing in Jacksonville, he was a member of Faith Methodist Church and was a volunteer with Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. In Palatka he was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, where he was active in the Methodist Men and also led the children's church ministry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rollin Aaron and Emma Sherwood Aaron; two brothers and sisters, Charles Sherwood, Roswell (Hilda) Aaron, Mabel Mills, Juanita (Chuck) Dickson; and nephews, Jerry Rightmire and Edward Martin.
He is survived by a sister-in-law, Cora Sherwood of East Palatka; nieces and nephews, Jean Martin of Wray, Colo;, Billy (Kaye) Aaron of Knoxville, Tenn., Dan Mills and John Mills of California, Warren (Barbara) Sherwood, Emily Rightmire, Tommy Sherwood, Annette (Jim) Peters, all of Palatka; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 19, at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Rev. Hardy B. Sandlin III officiating. Burial will be Thursday at Riverside Memorial Park in Jacksonville. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd 17 Apr 2007.)
