Bertha Adkins, age 74, passed away Monday, February 29, 2016 at the Mt View Healthcare Nursing Home, Elkhorn City, Kentucky. Bertha was born on June 13, 1941 to her parents the late Curt Wallace and the late Edna Wallace. She was a housewife and a member of the Unity Freewill Baptist Church. Bertha was preceded in death by her parents the late Curt Wallace and the late Edna Wallace, along with her husband the late Mark Dempsey Adkins. Bertha was preceded in death by her step father Mart Wallace and five brothers Clyde Wallace, Drannon Wallace, Arnold Wallace, Ervin Wallace, David Wallace and one sister Lockie Wallace. Bertha is survived by five brothers Michael Wallace, Giles Wallace, Victor Wallace, Ralph Wallace, Elmer Wallace and six sisters Rebecca Mullins, Ivel Potter, Melster Sweeney, Nellie Stewart, Marie Rice, Barbara Mullins and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6:00 P.M. at the Unity Freewill Baptist Church with church services Tuesday and Wednesday night at 7:00 P.M. The funeral will be Thursday at the Unity Freewill Baptist Church with Darrel Harmon, Jimmy Kerr, Chris Bartley, Delon Jones and others officiating. Burial will follow in the J.S. Willis Cemetery at Haysi, Va.
