E. Bruce "Butch" Absher, 63, Kingsport, was called home on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness. Bruce was born in Kingsport where he had lived and worked most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Inez Absher; sister, Faye Absher; brother, Ronnie Absher; and nephew, Henry Absher.

Butch is survived by his son, Bruce A. Absher; 2 grandchildren; brothers, Matthew Absher and David Ratliff of Kingsport; 2 nephews, Bobby and Jack; and 2 nieces, Becky and Elizabeth.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Chestnut Flats Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Raymond Hammonds officiating.
