Louise and Les lived most of their adult lives in Minnesota and owned lake shore property on Lake Minnetonka outside of Minneapolis. They moved to California in the 1950s and Louise died of cancer.

In Sacramento, March 31, 1960, Louise Lohr Gibbs, beloved wife of Leslie B. Gibbs of Sacramento, loving mother of Mrs. Murial L. Ainsworth of Colombia Falls, Montana, and Lowell W. Gibbs of San Juan, Peru, sister of Mabel Esmond of Lebanon, Oregon: a native of Estelline, South Dakota. Friedsarewelc the Mission Chapel of Andrews & Greilich, 28th and W Streets, and are invited to attend the funeral tomorrow (Saturday) at 2 P.M., followed by cremation.
