María Victoria "Vicky" Oritz, age 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Meadows Long Term Care, surrounded by her loving family.
Vicky was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel A. Ortiz, her great-granddaughter, Manaia Trujillo Lautalo, her parents, Alfonso and Anita Abeyta, brothers and sisters, Vicente, Beltran, Alfonso Jr., Rose Abeyta, Pauline Aragón, Lita García and Rosie Regensberg.
Vicky is survived by her daughters, Annette (John) García, Sharon (Brent) Pearce and Diane (Eddie) Trujillo, grandchildren, Patrick (Eugenia) García, Jamie García (Rocky), Jillian (David) Lautalo, Eddie (Amanda) Trujillo, Christopher and Jennifer Pearce, great-grandchildren, David Jr. and baby, Lautalo, Abbi and Noah Trujillo, brothers-in-law, Tony Aragón and Augustine García, many nephews and nieces and best friend, Isabel Benavidez.
Vicky was born in LeDoux, NM, and moved to Las Vegas at the age of 18 to work and help support her parents. A few years later, she met and married Manuel, the love of her life. Vicky never remarried, choosing to devote her life to her daughters and their families.
Vicky was not a typical housewife like many were at this time. Vicky worked out of the home all of her life. Vicky was best known for her years of employment at First Federal Savings and Loan and for her public service as San Miguel County Treasurer which preceded her retirement. Vicky was a well known Democrat in San Miguel County. Vicky then devoted her spare time to helping rear he grandchildren.
Her family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to the professional and compassionate care of the staff at Meadows Long Term Care, Evergreen North where she spent her last two year of life.
Rosary and funeral Mass will take place on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the funeral following at 3:00 p.m. at the Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM.
