Rexford Johnson, age 85, of 808 Wagoner Rd., Elon passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012 at his residence. A native of Chatham County, he was the husband of Lillian Kirby Johnson and son of the late Euliss and Lillie Elmore Johnson.

He was a member of Burlington Assembly of God, where he served as Deacon and a Deacon in Siler City Pentecostal Holiness Church. He had been an employee of Hadley-Peoples in Siler City for 53 years.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian Kirby Johnson of the home; daughter, Patricia J. Cox of Elon; son, Michael Kirby Johnson of Greensboro; 4 grandchildren, Adam Johnson, Lindsey Johnson, Andrea Cox and Jonathon Cox; brothers, Roland Johnson of Yadkinville and Paul Johnson of Burlington; sisters, Margaret Hough and June Carol Easter both of Siler City and Doris Talent of Yadkinville.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Ruby Abee and Magdalene Gaines; brothers, Herman Johnson and Herbert Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, January 10, 2012 in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Howard Thompson. Interment will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
