Olaf Morest Sandness was born March 23, 1906, in LaMoure County, the son of Sivert and Ragna Sandness. He was baptized and confirmed in the High Prairie Lutheran Church and received his education in the Pearl Lake School.
On December 10, 1936, he married Lillian Simpson in her farm home in LaMoure County. the farmed there and in Barnes County. She died March 25, 1968. He had worked on the Grace Bowen farm until retiring. He had been in a nursing home since August 1979. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church.
Mr. Sandness is survived by a son Lynn, Maple Valley, Wash.; and a daughter, Joan (Mrs. David) Hallerstan, of New York, N. Y.; a sister, Bertha (Mrs. Albert) Aarseth of La Feria, Texas and Forman; three brothers, Jeffrey and Arnold of Valley City and Ralph of Redfield, Kans., four grandchildren also survive.
