Betty Jean Abbott, age 83, of South Knoxville, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2016. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.

Betty was preceded in death by her son, Rodney Abbott; and her husband, Thomas Abbott, Sr. She is survived by her son, Tommy Abbott and wife, Karen of Seymour; daughter, Karen Wallen and husband, Kenneth of Maryville; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Grady, Wayne, Avery, and Vic Elliott.

Family will receive friends on Monday, December 19, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM, Rev. Rick Phipps officiating. Family and friends will meet at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Alcoa at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, December 20, 2016 for the interment.
