Funeral services for Anita Abney Head were conducted Tuesday afternoon, May 16, from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home with burial in the Smith County Memorial Gardens. Elder Charles Gentry officiated at the 2 p.m. services.
A resident of the Defeated Creek community, she was born in Smith County, the daughter of Arlie Abney of Gainesboro and Dimple Dillard Abney of South Carthage. She was married to Marty Head who survives.
Anita and Marty Head were the parents of a four-month-old son, Marty Justin Head. Anita ws a graduate of Smith County High School, employed at Texas Bot Company in Carthage and was a Baptist by belief.
Surviving in addition to her parents, husband and son are five sisters, Genevia Eskew and Carol Dixon, both of Green Castle, Indiana; Wilda Davis of Tompkinsville, Kentucky, Kathy Dunn of Nashville; and Teresa Thompson of Carthage; brother David Abney of Gainesboro.
