Jack Barnabas Abercrombie, 83, of Buchanan, died peacefully at home on Friday, June 10, 2005. Jack was born April 30, 1922, in Montvale, Va., to the late Leslie and Mary Abercrombie. He retired from Rainbo Bread Company with 38 years of service, and ten years of service with Dunman Walnut Avenue Antiques in Vinton. He was a veteran of the United States Army and fought in WWII. He is preceded in death by one son, Terry Wayne Abercrombie, and three sisters and one brother. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Raye R. Abercrombie; children, Danny Abercrombie and wife, Ann, John (Jay) Abercrombie and friend, Mike Farmer, Judy Branscome, Louanne Semones and husband, Wayne, Becky Haley and husband, Richard, and Wendy Falls and husband, Walter; stepchildren, C. Mark Rice and wife, Joanne and Cindy Downs and husband, Charles; two brothers, Robert D. Abercrombie and wife, Patt, of Chesapeake, Va., Leslie "Baby" S. Abercrombie and wife, Madelaine, of Niskayuna, N.Y.; one sister, Elaine A. Noell and husband, Charles, of Roanoke, Va.; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one step-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 19, 2005 at 3 p.m. at Buchanan Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Marina Gopadze and Wayne Ellis. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home and Crematory.
