We would like to introduce you to Stella Achord Sutcliffe. She was born on August 11, 1943 and raised in Walker, La. She died January 25, 2017 in Clinton La. She and her husband Sidney Sutcliffe were missionaries of Mexico in 1966, and she served the Lord all the days of her life. She was a woman of strength and loved her family dearly. She also loved her job with the United States Post Office, where she worked for 30 years in various positions at Walker, Denham Springs and Livingston Post Offices. She loved LSU baseball and traveled with the team so much back in the late 80's and early 90's that all the players called her "Aunt Stella." She even made the front page of the sports section in The State Times/Morning Advocate while cheering them on to win the World Series. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed making holiday candy with her family. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Sidney Ray Sutcliffe of Denham Springs, her daughters and son-in-laws Stephanie and John Thomas of Plymouth, In., Susanne and Jason Diez of Prairieville, La., and Sommer and Craig Mason of Geismar, La. What she loved more than anything were her grandchildren. Michael Lanson and Rachel Thomas of Pensacola Fl., Jessica and James Perkins of Monterey, In., Slade Diez, Ireland Diez of Prairieville, La., Kaylin Mason, Makenzie Mason of Geismar, La., her great grandsons Shaun and Nicholas Thomas and great granddaughters Olivia and Danielle Perkins. She was an amazing MawMaw/MeMe. She loved jewelry, playing basketball in high school, and singing in church with her sister. She is survived by her siblings and their spouses, Carl "Sonny Boy" and Joann Achord, James "Jimmy" and Beth Achord, Wilson "Red" Achord Jr., Janis and Kenneth Maxwell. She has numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Wilson and Zadie Harris Achord, her sisters Margie McClure and Nina Achord. She was an AMAZING seamstress. She once said that she prayed that all her girls would look like their Dad. She never knew how beautiful she was. Her kids may have not received their looks from her but they all have her spunk. "Thanks for all the great memories you have given our family. We are proud to call you sister, wife, Momma, MawMaw, MeMe and Aunt Stella. We may have had a hard year BUT we never gave up mom. We never surrendered. We will NEVER forget you." Services will be at her lifelong church, Revival Temple 28521 Walker South Rd, Walker, La. Viewings will be Friday 5:00-8:00 pm and Saturday morning at 9:00 am with funeral at 10:00 am, then proceeding to grave site at Felder Cemetery. For those attending, please feel free to wear LSU attire/colors on Friday night and Purple on Saturday morning. She loved flowers and plants, especially yellow and purple in color. If you prefer to make a donations to an organization, please do so to Alzheimer's Services of the Capital Area in her honor.
