ADAMS, Ava S., 90, of Richmond, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017. Ava was born in Lawrenceville, Va., to James and Jo Smith on November 2, 1926. She was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Lewis B. Adams Jr.; and the ultimate friend of a lifetime, Anne W. Beadles; as well as her beloved cat and companion, Braveheart. Ava is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Ron Manning; her grandchildren who she loved greatly, Justin Hawthorne and his wife, Krystal, Rachel Hawthorne and Eric Manning; her great-grandchildren who she loved and adored, Alicia Bartley, Aiden Hawthorne and Hadley Downey. She leaves behind two wonderful friends of decades, Fran Allison and Cookie Vaughan; two sisters-in-law who were dear friends, Helen Adams and Ann Evelyn; as well as many other family members and friends both new and old. She will be fondly remembered for her love of life, sense of humor, warm smile, avid love of giraffes and the way that she quickly touched the lives of all those that she met. She will be missed greatly. Ava was a longtime member of Ginter Park Baptist Church in Richmond. She also loved attending services with family and friends at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Charles City, Va. Ava enjoyed the monthly meetings of The Springers at Springfield Christian Church, Rockville, Va., and the many friends she loved there. She was a longtime member of the Hermitage Garden Club and the Richmond Council of Garden Clubs. Ava was a retired employee of the Hermitage-Richmond. A Celebration of Life will be held at Ginter Park Baptist Church on March 4, 2017, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Ginter Park Baptist Church or the charity of your choice in her memory.
