She was born in Lafayette on July 2, 1927 to the late Paul and Vesta (Rhode) Clawson.
Married to Leroy E. Zahn, in West Lafayette on November 11, 1948. He preceded her in death.
Nellie was a homemaker, wife, and mother. She was a member and held different positions in the following organizations and auxiliaries; Marine Corps League, Navy Club, Eagles #347, United Transportation, VFW, Moose, Elston Homemakers, and Toys for Tots.
Nellie enjoyed doing crafts, talking with her friends on the phone, going to garage sales, her family, Christmas was her favorite holiday, having garage sales, and Bingo which she shared the love with her special friends, Karen Mellady, June Mekos, Barb King, Shirley Hogan, and Mabel Ketterer.
She was born the oldest of eleven children; in which two sisters, Mary Pinkston and Katherine Barnes, and two brothers, Richard and Junior Clawson; three sisters-in-law, Bert Clawson, Janet Walters, and Louise Zahn; and one son-in-law, John W. O’Maley (wife: Royetta) precede her in death.
She is survived by two sisters, Barbara Whiteaker and Betty Jean Hensley, and four brothers, Charlie, Butch, Robert, and Floyd Clawson.
Also surviving are her children. Daughters: Royetta O’Maley (late husband: John W. O’Maley) and Amanda Zahn. Sons: Francis and Nelson Zahn (wife: Vicki). Grandchildren: David Blickenstaff, Joshua Zahn (wife: Caitlin), Aaron O’Maley (wife: Charrisa), and Jeremiah Zahn (wife: Leslie). Great grandchildren: Bradley, Braden, Ella, Savannah, Cheyenne, and Kaden.
