Mayme, a nickname that was used through-out her life, was born to Michael and Margaret Drier Radle on 21 Oct 1888 in Wisconsin.

She followed her longtime friend, Thomas Ableidinger out to Bowman County North Dakota to find herself a homestead plot. Nothing was available so she crossed into Harding County, near Karinen, South Dakota where she homesteaded the land where she and her family lived.

Mayme married Thomas Ableidinger on 21 Apr 1913 at St Charles Catholic, Bowman North Dakota. They had four children, Ethel, Robert, and the twins, Lucille and Luella.

The family purchased the old Ben Lund homestead in 1945 moving closed to Rhame, Bowman County, North Dakota, and then in 1947 moved to Salem, Oregon where their daughter, Luella lived until 1959 where they moved back to their farm near Rhame.

She was a hardworking farm wife who always had meals on the table for workers, friends, and family. Made the best doughnuts. Very religious in her Catholic faith.

"Mame told me that when they first started farming, they charged their groceries and needs at the stores in Rhame, and then after harvest they would "settle up", many did that in the early days, but she said it always amounted to so much more than they thot, that she decided to milk cows, so that they would have the cream checks to live on. She never bot extravagantly, but even bare necessitys mounted up thru the spring and summer..
Mame raised a wonderful garden, I dont remember if she could water it, but it always seemed that she had vegetables when noone else had them, and she would take the heads of the cabbage, one each day, to the henhouse, and chop it up for the chickens all thru the winter..
She had a powerhouse of energy, she could go from daylight to way after dark, and never be out of sorts, or seem tired. About the only time I ever saw her sit down was when she was mixing piecrust.
She was a super cook, her sauerkraut was heavenly, of course she made her own kraut in the fall, gallons of it in a big stone jar, she always put some sugar in it when she cooked it, so I do to this day ...
She would work in the garden thru the day, besides cooking, milking, etc. etc. and then she would work at night, can food, sew for the girls, mend, whatever had to be done, was done, she never wasted a minute. I remember her sewing machine was always open, with garments ready to be sewn ...and her house was always spotlessly clean, windows shining..
Even the years as Mame got Arthtitus in her hands, she continued to be busy..Such kind, generous, wonderful friends, truly a great pioneer family.."
