David E. West, age 77, of Farmington, MN, formerly of Castlewood, passed away Monday, March 18, 2019 at Lake Norden Care & Rehabilitation Center.

Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Apostolic Lutheran Church in Watertown with Reverend Conrad Hilman officiating and Wanda Laue as the organist.

Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to Lake Norden Care & Rehabilitation Center, 803 Park St. Lake Norden, SD 57248.

Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Amanda (West) Reed, Zachary West, Grant West, Molly (West) Johnson, Sebren Baer, Lance West, Isaac Baer, Amber West, Hanna Baer and Lacey West.

Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm, Friday, March 22, 2019 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.

David "Dave" Ernest West, the son of Galen Alton and Helen Mae (Cushman) West, was born June 10, 1941 in Hayti, South Dakota. He grew up in the Hayti and Watertown area.

He married Marlys Bleeker on March 9, 1962 in Watertown. David worked in the Minneapolis, MN, Watertown and Castlewood areas in floor covering and real-estate. David proudly served in the National Guard for 25 years.

He enjoyed going to his grandkids activities; and also fishing, bird watching, reading, playing guitar and singing.

David is survived by his wife, Marlys West of Farmington, MN; his children, Jeff West of Watertown, SD, Jon (Tracey) West of Dallas, TX, Jodi (Daniel) Baer of Farmington, MN; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his siblings, Joe (Barb) West of Watertown, SD, Marjorie (Darrel) Baker of Castlewood, SD, Wesley (Joyce) West of Hayti, SD, Steven West of Hayti, SD, Myron (Karla) West of Hayti, SD, Mary West of Watertown, SD, Martha (Conrad) Hilman of Hayti, SD and Anita (Paul) Levijoki of Hayti, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Jackie West; brothers, Roger, Dennis and Alton "Junior" West; and his great-grandson, Ryan Reed.
