The health of the deceased was poor during the entire winter, and as he continued to fail, calmly prepared for that change that sooner or later awaits us all, by the disposition, so far as practicable, of his worldly affairs, which having completed he expressed himself ready for the final summon whenever it should please God to call him hence.
The deceased was an exemplary member of society, a kind husband, a good neighbor, and a Christian gentleman. He was born in Carroll county, Ohio, May 12, 1822, and consequently would have been fifty years of age had he lived until the 12th of this month.
He settled in this county some twenty-three years ago. The funeral services were held at the Alpha (Pillars) on Sunday, last, and were conducted by the Rev. H. C. Galbraith. His remains were interred at Monmouth.
