SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Margaret Laverne Thornton, 74, will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, February 11, 2002 at the First United Pentecostal Church in Bossier City. Officiating will be Rev. Jerry Dean, Pastor, and grandsons, Rev. Dewaine Parker, Rev. Nathan Thornton and Rev. Donavon Hill. Interment will be at Forest Park West Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton.

Mrs. Thornton was a long time resident of Blanchard, LA and passed away at home on February 7, 2002 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Thornton was a devoted wife, mother, friend and precious servant of God. She fought a good fight, she kept the faith, and she finished the course.

Mrs. Thornton and the family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Patrick Connor and his staff, the chemo nurses at Schumpert Cancer Center, the Hospice staff, and her very special Church family.

Mrs. Thornton was preceded in death by her parents, Andy Aaron and Irene Dowty; brother, Edwin Aaron and grandson, Donald Ray Parker.

She leaves behind her husband of 55 years, Cebern O. Thornton; two daughters, Linda Parker and husband Billy Ray of Hudson Falls, NY, and Brenda Inge and husband Buddy of Bossier City, LA; one son, Joseph Thornton of Shreveport, LA; six grandchildren, Valerie Hill, Gary Parker, Karen Murphy, Dewaine Parker, April Thornton, Nathan Thornton, and eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alton Aaron of Kansas City, MO and Timothy Aaron of Alamagordo, New Mexico.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Anderson, James Bouchard, Randy Hill, Tim Murphy, Tom Patterson, Doug Pierce, Ray Welch and Dale Wray.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Family Life Center at First United Pentecostal Church, 2833 First United Pentecostal Church, 2833 Viking Drive, Bossier City, LA 71111.
