Services for Mrs. Irene Adams Dowty, 74, of Montgomery, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday July 25 at the Montgomery Pentecostal Church, where she was a lifelong member. The Rev. John Donahue, the Rev. Bill Parker and Dr. Shelton Young will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Montgomery.
She died Saturday night July 23, 1983, at Blanchard, La. after a long illness. Mrs. Dowty, born in Shelby County, Texas and a resident of Montgomery all of her life, was a housewife.
She is survived by her husband, Rodney Dowty of Montgomery; two son[s], Elton Aaron of Kansas City, Mo., Timothy Aaron of Almagorda, N.M.; one daughter, Mrs. Laverne Thornton of Shreveport, La.; two brothers, N. T. Adams of Shreveport and L. E. Adams of Dallas, Texas; four sisters, Mrs. Morgan Rees of Richardson, Texas, Mrs. P. V. Webb of Shreveport, Mrs. John Doxey of Shreveport and Mrs. R. U. Johnson of Mansfield, La.; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
