Carl Abbott, 90, of Mattoon passed away 8:40 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2007 at Heartland Christian Village, Neoga.
Carl was born August 16, 1916 in Bruce, the son of Benjamin F. and Melvinine (Comstock) Abbott. He married Hazelene Cummings November 29, 1946. She preceded him in death on February 19, 1995. Carl served in the United States Army during WWII. He was retired from IBC Homes, Mattoon.
He is survived by his son, Bennie Abbott and wife Geniece of Neoga; daughters, Dorothy Borden of Decatur and Sondra Smith and husband Allen of Mattoon; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Gargus; six brothers and three sisters.
