Mr. Holbert, who died Sunday, October 28, 2018, at NHC in Moulton, was born May 13, 1944, to Oscar D. Holbert and Flora Earwood Holbert. He was a proud member of Faith Baptist Church and served on the usher board and security team. “Hobie” retired from Solutia in 1999 after 37 years. He also retired from the Decatur City School Child Nutrition Program after 16 years. Then, he worked for Serra Toyota as a contract driver. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and ministering to those in need. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca N. “Miss Beckye” Holbert; daughter, Amelia Holbert (Doug) Adams; son, Steve Dumas; daughter, Lisa Scott; two brothers, Windle (Frances) Holbert and Winford (Oradean) Holbert; four sisters, Martha (James) Knight, Dot Livingston, Elaine (Joe) Stover and Betty Gorham; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Doug Adams, Steve Dumas, Michael Thompson, Michael Dumas, Brent Vinson and Blake Vinson.
Honorary pallbearers will be his Sunday school class, friends and family.
