Michael married Karolina "Carrie" DIEDE on the 26th of January 1865 in Johannestal, Beresan, Odessa, South Russia. This union was blessed with no less than 13 children.

The Michael SAYLER family along with Michael's widowed daughter Rosina HORNBACHER plus her 2 children, sailed from the port of Bremen, Germany on the 3rd of June 1902 and arrived at Ellis Island, New York aboard the SS "Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse" on the 9th of Jun 1902.

Their final destination was recorded as Scotland, Bon Homme County, South Dakota to join his brother Mattheaus and Matt's spouse Anna Maria. Mattheaus being a brother to Michael and Anna Maria being a sister to Karolina.

Five of the Michael and Karolina SAYLER's 13 children came to America with them; Jacob, Rosina, Katherina, Heinrich and Carl, leaving 8 behind that had died in Russia prior to 1902. The ship's manifest also revealed that the Christian SAYLER family had 800 dollars in their pockets of whatever currency it may have been when they arrived in America.

From there they went to North Dakota where they homesteaded in McLean County, 7 miles northwest of Garrison. Karolina (nee Diede) SAYLER died there on the 20th of June 1905 from a broken rib that had punctured her lung.

Michael married Anna Frank on the 4th of April 1907 and divorced her shortly thereafter. Next Michael SAYLER married Rosina ESLINGER on the 9th of July 1909 in Mclean County, North Dakota. Michael and his new bride Rosa are found in the 1910 McLean County, North Dakota census with 1 son, Carl "Charles" age 21 born in Russia.
